I don't know what all that means, the expiry date of 1 Jan 1970 00:00:01 is definitely not right.

UNIX time is measured in ticks (I do not know the size of a tick) since that time. Originally 1/60 of a second IIRC, but I assume it is finer now. So that expiry date is one that only one tick. Whatever that may mean.

What leads me to think that this may be a problem with the client version, although I'm not sure, I'm currently using 8.0.4 on my linux, and I have no problems. Try using that one, I would recommend it, if not, you can do a cleanup and reinstall the client, it could be another solution again.

Because what I am telling you, I also get the 403, but nevertheless, when it comes to adding the project, it is letting me. However, don't worry that you won't get any tasks either, as we are launching a very, very small fraction at the moment, so it is likely that not all of you will get one. There are users who have received as many as 10-20 tasks from the same run.

On macos, from the same location, i am not getting tasks (i have enabled run test applications checkbox)

This is because the fraction of tasks we have launched at the moment is very small, and also (which is what happens to me), is that we do homogeneous validations, i.e. from windows to windows, from macOS to macOS, without crossing operating systems.

i use 8.0.2 on this linux machine, and based on release notes of latest 8.0.4 https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/wiki/Client-release-notes#changes-in-804 , i dont see any issues related to connectivity in general... I will try to upgrade some time..

i was skeptical that upgrading recommended 8.0.2 to alpha 8.0.4 on linux will change anything BUT

after i upgraded as recommended here https://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux_install.php?os_num=6&build=alpha (PS: i used 8.10.0) , connectivity seems fine

upgrading the client should not be necessary. ssl certs are handled by the OS on linux and are kept updated that way. the two systems that seem to have returned work yesterday, they are still on the "old" 8.0.2 client and they got work fine.

again, if all other projects are working fine, but this one is not. it's a problem with the project or the associated network, not with the client.

It's not just Linux, might be tied to the Boinc version

Response to curl includes demand for javascript and references to challenge.
I can open the site in Firefox OK.

did you try upgrading BOINC on ubuntu to 8.0.4 ?

i had 8.0.2 on ubuntu 24.04 and after i upgraded, connectivity was restored

I know, this is quite a few steps. But it should work.

Detach the project, making sure BAM is off, and exclude the project there too.

Once that's done, uninstall BOINC from your computer. Remember to reboot. Reinstall BOINC, but a different version.

After reattaching the projects, make sure everything is running okay. Perhaps renewing your CPID might help, but you'll have to wait a few days to see any difference there.

If you're still having some difficulties, I recommend you start fresh. Reinstall your entire operating system, firewall, external security, and operating system settings, as they might contain some setting that's blocking your access. Start from scratch and build up an entirely new system. If this doesn't solve the problems, I doubt the fault lies with you.

Since this issue affects all of my machines, they are running different BOINC versions including one compiled from the latest source, and they all have no trouble connecting to any other project, it's something specific to Denis. Since it primarily affects Linux machines it points to a configuration issue by an overly zealous security administrator that can only be fixed at the university's end. I've been pretty enthusiastic about running this project for family reasons until now, but until this is fixed there's nothing I can contribute.

I temporarily turned on HTTP debugging in the BOINC client settings, and this is what it captured when I asked my client to update DENIS@Home.

I will echo what has already been said: this is an issue with Cloudflare flagging the request as suspicious and challenging the requestor to verify that they are human (which, of course, the BOINC client is not.)

I tried both the cloudflare and original link and both didn't work for linux, what should I do?

Hello everyone,

The DENIS server is located within the University's data center, but the IT department controls and manages access and the University's firewall. Something might be interfering. I will communicate with them to see what it could be. Depending on which directive is blocking it, we will see what we can do.

To help them diagnose the problem correctly, those of you who are having connection difficulties, could you please provide me the following information?

- Operating system
- BOINC version
- Country from which you are connecting

Issue appears to be Cloudfare config forcing not-a-robot response.
