Winter starts (in the Northern Hemisphere) either 1 December (Meteorologists) or 22 December (Calendar): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter

Those that follow the Celtic seasons (Glaswegian football hooligans?) do indeed have winter in November and spring in February...

I* tend to use the solstices as the demarcations for seasons. i.e. Winter is usually December 22nd and Summer is usually June 21st, being as how I'm in the Northern Hemisphere. Spring/Fall are the halfway points between those two.

*I live in Alaska and, like a lot of folks around here, get persnickety about Winter and Summer. The first day of Winter means the days are getting longer! :-)

Wow, I learn a lot from you. I use 22 December for winter. I hope to start sending tasks before that date because in that moment, Christmas holidays are starting. Also, here in Spain they last until January 6. During those days, I will keep an eye on the project, but I will not be at the same level of dedication. If we have started, it will be easy to maintain the pace of tasks during those days.

Best,
Jes煤s.

Yeah given WCG is on maintenance, and no tasks in Rosetta, there are not much options for biological/medical projects in BOINC at this moment :(... DENIS tasks would greatly help on this matter

I have been getting Rosetta and Einstein tasks.
No Climate Prediction in ages.
WCG has been pretty much down for two years although I sometimes get a lot of MCM1 tasks. I even got a bunch of ARP1 tasks that mostly completed successfully, but no trace of them and no credit for them. But they are down for at least a month.
Denis has not sent me any tasks for about six months.
And Asteroids will not run on my Linux OS because it requires a newer library than my release supplies.

SiDock is a good bio/med project. I get stuff from them on a pretty regular basis on Win11.

Rosetta is out of work units
SiDock is also out
World Community Grid is on a hiatus until January

You're missing a great opportunity for some serios crunching to get done.

Fortunately you can use anonymous platform mechanism to run sidock short workunits on x86-64linux system.
You can compile it yourserlf or use it precompiled.

Asteroids@home has lots of work and is a stable project. I have been running it since January of 2013.

They support Windows, Linux, MAC and even a little Android.

Not all versions of Linux. I have downloaded Asteroids to my release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.10 (Ootpa). But

Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.10 seems to have been released in May of 2024 so it's not real old. But at glibc of 2.28 you are one level down.

Have you posted your problem on the Denis site ?

The only problem I have with Denis is that I get no work for a very long time. The glibc problem applies only to the Asteroids project. And even that works OK on my Windows 11 machine. I checked and it seems even RHEL 9 comes with 2.28 IIRC.

Yes ... I am sorry I should have said Asteroids@home. I would question the 2.28 vs 2.29 on the Linux and see if thy can address it. There may be other users like yourself as Linux is a major OS.

Thanks for that. It is way beyond my ability to even try. I do good just to install Linux Mint. I am sure that helped other people though.
