Winter starts (in the Northern Hemisphere) either 1 December (Meteorologists) or 22 December (Calendar): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter Those that follow the Celtic seasons (Glaswegian football hooligans?) do indeed have winter in November and spring in February... |

I* tend to use the solstices as the demarcations for seasons. i.e. Winter is usually December 22nd and Summer is usually June 21st, being as how I'm in the Northern Hemisphere. Spring/Fall are the halfway points between those two. *I live in Alaska and, like a lot of folks around here, get persnickety about Winter and Summer. The first day of Winter means the days are getting longer! :-) |

Wow, I learn a lot from you. I use 22 December for winter. I hope to start sending tasks before that date because in that moment, Christmas holidays are starting. Also, here in Spain they last until January 6. During those days, I will keep an eye on the project, but I will not be at the same level of dedication. If we have started, it will be easy to maintain the pace of tasks during those days. Best, Jesús. Jesús Carro Universidad San Jorge @InSilicoHeart |

Yeah given WCG is on maintenance, and no tasks in Rosetta, there are not much options for biological/medical projects in BOINC at this moment :(... DENIS tasks would greatly help on this matter -- I crunch for Ukraine |

Yeah given WCG is on maintenance, and no tasks in Rosetta, there are not much options for biological/medical projects in BOINC at this moment :(... DENIS tasks would greatly help on this matter I have been getting Rosetta and Einstein tasks. No Climate Prediction in ages. WCG has been pretty much down for two years although I sometimes get a lot of MCM1 tasks. I even got a bunch of ARP1 tasks that mostly completed successfully, but no trace of them and no credit for them. But they are down for at least a month. Denis has not sent me any tasks for about six months. And Asteroids will not run on my Linux OS because it requires a newer library than my release supplies. |

SiDock is a good bio/med project. I get stuff from them on a pretty regular basis on Win11. |

Timeline or time out First, the new academic year began. Then, had to form a new team. If the project can wrap things up before Christmas, we could potentially work on the WUs until after the New Year. Well, well, well. It seems like the DENNIS project is operating on its own timeline (25½ hours per daym or so). It's one of the few projects that is truly grounded in reality, focused on people, and directly demonstrates how its results can improve people's lives, with noticeable effects within a short period. Therefore, it's with a heavy heart that I look at my PC's to-do list and see that there are no new tasks assigned to the DENNIS project. I hope this project doesn't follow the same path as Collaz and Universe, which have both stalled recently. To prevent similar situations in the future, the team could try involving multiple generations of students in the project. This way, the project wouldn't come to a complete standstill when a group of students leaves. There should always be replacements lined up in advance. I hope to see the DENNIS project reach its full potential so that we can all contribute to improving the difficult circumstances that many people face when they get sick. Thank you for all your hard work on this project, and to everyone who has been involved in getting it to where it is today. Fools look to tomorrow, wise men use tonight. |

Fortunately you can use anonymous platform mechanism to run sidock short workunits on x86-64linux system. You can compile it yourserlf or use it precompiled. https://gitlab.com/Jukic/cmdock/-/releases https://www.sidock.si/sidock/forum_thread.php?id=125#946 |

I have been running it since January of 2013. They support Windows, Linux, MAC and even a little Android. Asteroids@home has lots of work and is a stable project. I have been running it since January of 2013. Not all versions of Linux. I have downloaded Asteroids to my release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.10 (Ootpa). But $ ldd period_search_10221_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu ./period_search_10221_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by ./period_search_10221_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffce61a9000) libm.so.6 => /lib64/libm.so.6 (0x00007f3031580000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib64/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00007f3031368000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007f3031148000) libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007f3030d72000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f3032285000) glibc-2.28-251.el8_10.5.x86_64 glibc-headers-2.28-251.el8_10.5.x86_64 glibc-gconv-extra-2.28-251.el8_10.5.x86_64 glibc-2.28-251.el8_10.5.i686 |

Asteroids@home has lots of work and is a stable project. I have been running it since January of 2013. Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.10 seems to have been released in May of 2024 so it's not real old. But at glibc of 2.28 you are one level down. Have you posted your problem on the Denis site ? The only problem I have with Denis is that I get no work for a very long time. The glibc problem applies only to the Asteroids project. And even that works OK on my Windows 11 machine. I checked and it seems even RHEL 9 comes with 2.28 IIRC. |

I am sorry I should have said Asteroids@home. I would question the 2.28 vs 2.29 on the Linux and see if thy can address it. There may be other users like yourself as Linux is a major OS. Bill F |

DENIS failed. Promised WUs no later than 22'nd Dec. Awright, they didn't mention which year. Fools look to tomorrow, wise men use tonight. |
