Hi!
The new version of DENIS Simulator is out. We will generate some beta WUs to see if all is correct. To run those WUs, you have to modify your account preferences and check the option of run beta applications.
You can find more information about the new version here: http://denis.usj.es/denis-natrium/

3 tasks have been successfully completed (pending validation) by my i5-3230M Windows 7 Pro system. They were run simultaneously with very similar CPU times (min 3:42:45, max 3:44:44) but a very wide range of elapsed times (min 4:08:16, max 5:10:33).

It's working, but I think the WUs are taking a long time :(

Well, if you only have a Pentium 3 they probably will :)

The days of the short WU are over - these new ones take about 18 times longer then the "opp app" Wus.

It appears that I am unable to check the "run test applications" box in my settings. Makes it kind of hard to help test things. Can someone take a look at what is going on?

As there's no work now it does not help!
You are clicking on the Edit preferences link first and not just trying to click the box on your DENIS@Home preferences page?

Have you also clicked the "Run only the selected applications - Beta Testing Version of D.E.N.I.S Application" box too?

Hi from Sydney Australia.
Congratulations on getting the new simulation program and results database system to beta testing stage!
I hope that the results we compute for you can be of great benefit to cardiology.

About 1 hr ago I selected "Run test applications" in my DENIS@Home preferences, hit "Update" in my BOINC manager (BoincTasks), and 4 DENIS betas arrived. Running 2 now. [Update: Now have 20 betas, running 4. Linux, 64-bit]

Are there any tests that we can perform with them that might expose problems with the new version?
I mainly crunch for WCG, and at many times their beta WUs have failed to restart properly from checkpoints. I will perform a BOINC client restart shortly to test your betas for this.
[Update: DENIS betas restarted OK from checkpoints after a boinc-client restart under 64-bit Linux].

[OT] BTW, will this simulator figure out a way for me to stop my cardiac pacemaker registering lots of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)? The medical people tell me that these PVCs are the reason that the pacemaker doesn't work about 90% of the time I'm on my bicycle, and riding up hills with a max heart rate of about 100 is no fun. Hi!

The needed test are just normal use. As you said, main problems could be at checkpoint time, because is one of the hardest part to test at develop time.

We look the crashes and tries to isolate and find the origin of them, we hope that most of them are related to the client situation ( an unpredicted reboot or similar situations).

The simulator could be used to improve cardiac cells models and make them more realistic, this could help to a lot of cardiac diseases like for example arrhythmia (http://denis.usj.es/carro-rodriguez-laguna-pueyo-2011/).

Best regards, Joel.

The boxes on the DENIS@Home preferences page look like they should be clickable but they aren't. You need to click on the "Edit preferences" link to get to the page where you can change your preferences (and yes, I only spotted that link after the test applications box didn't change when I clicked it).
