Hi everyone! We are ready to launch a new version of DENIS application, which will include more than one model, also, it will have new features for scientists like the ability to storage more parameters from the simulation. We are working also in a new web page with more information about the project and the workunits organization, to do all that things we need to "purge" the system and prepare some scripts that will maintain the server paused this week. We hope that the new web page and the new version of the app will be running during the next week. Best regards, DENIS@Home Staff. |

I am currently using Sesef's denis1.6.1_avx2 application. Should I remove it? |

Yes, the new version have different input files and also different models to compute. Best regards, Joel. PD: You can use it until all the WUs are computed. |

Is there any ETA for when we will work to crunch? |

Sorry, I've joined some other project to keep my PC busy, but it's not really alive. How can a delete it now? I searched the FAQ - nothing about it. It's frustrating - you can't opt out as easily as to join. The only way I see now is to delete all BOINC forever. Thanks! |

There is usually no way to delete your account on any BOINC project, but if you just want to detach BOINC from a project, you just use the "Remove" button in the "Projects" tab of BOINC Manager. However, there is no need to even do that. Just add whatever project you want, and leave DENIS attached. You will get new work when it arrives. |

Is there any ETA for when we will work to crunch? We suppose that during the next week we will start to generate new WUs. Best regards, Joel. |

Will the new app be optimized in any way? Looking at the various optimized versions of the previous version, available here on the forum, it appears that optimizing the app isn't too hard, probably just setting some optimization options on compile. For instance, enabling SSE3 instructions would probably speed the original app up quite a bit, and leave hardly anybody "out" (SSE3 has been around in most CPU's for about 10 years now). I would much prefer using the "officail" app as that will be tested/verified to produce correct results. But, a speed increase of about 10-fold will drive basically everyone to the "3rd party" apps. I don't mind using these "forum-supplied" optimized apps, however I can imagine the project having problems testing/validating all these "third-party" apps. That can be avoided by supplying an at least partially optimized "official" app. |

Is there any ETA for when we will work to crunch? And now it's been almost A MONTH!!! Can you explain to us exactly HOW this will affect the long term viability of this project please? |

Hi! We are working on the new version. We know that optimized versions of the app are so much fast than the official one, but we think that for the official application is more important to be compatible with all computers in the project. We are searching the best way to generate official optimized app for the used, tested and compiled from us. The change in the project have been not just software, we are changing the way that the project is organized, you can find more information here: http://denis.usj.es/the-project/how-it-works/ We are going to generate a few number of WUs to test new version of the app. We will generato a bigger number of them soon. Best regards, Joel. |

Posting while still have credit to do so. Missing denis work a lot! Hope it won't be long before we're busy here again. :-) Happy New Year to everyone in the meantime! |

I exclusively run medical projects (my tiny part of a potential greater good) and have been sad that DENIS has been so quiet. I don't really know what running 'beta' units mean - all I know is that I've not had any work units for over a month. I'm multitasking with Poem, Rosetta that seem to have plenty of work to do. I hope that this project gets back in the game soon. |

To move the application to "production" we have to ensure that it gives valid results and don't hang up durint working. We have a limited hardware to test it so we will use a beta version of the app, that could crash, to test if it is stable or not and give us information about bug. Once the app passes the "Beta" test, it will be use in projects that needs fiability in their results. Best regards, Joel PD: We will restart things next week, we have the new version ( Kalium) and we are developing the next one (Natrium). |

Hi! Is your team aware that you can compile multiple versions of your app and send them out based on the volunteer computer's capability? I'm sure it takes a little extra work, but I know it's doable. The Asteroids@home project has an app with no optimization, an app with sse2, and an app with sse3: http://www.asteroidsathome.net/boinc/apps.php If your team could set this up, you can publish an official optimized app while still allowing older computers to contribute. |

We will try to do something similar, but first of all, we will test the code in the unoptimized app. Best regards, Joel PD: Thx for the info. |
