I have a second system I would like to add, however it join the project for some reason. When I try to use the GUI to join I get the error message "Project not found. The URL you provided was not that of a BOINC project."

If I go to command line and run
boinccmd --project_attach https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/ <my account key here>
and while that does add the project it doesn't initialize. It tries to communicate with the server once and it gets a one minute back off, tries again and gets a three minute back off, and finally tries again and gets a 24 hour back off.

If I try to run
boinccmd --lookup_account https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/ <my email address> <my password>
I get the following response:

status: Success
poll status: operation in progress
poll status: permanent HTTP error

This is odd to me because sitting right next to this system is another Debian box with the project added to it.

The children running the network security at the university locked everything down some time in February and as a result thousands of people can no longer connect to the project and neither can the multiple stats accumulator pages. Had they bothered to look at the traffic logs or step outside their student accommodation and ASK the people within the university that are affected this wouldn't have happened.

A wise person knows that every solution brings with it a new set of problems. I think that at worst they are still learning how to deal with the new set of problems. These are educated people with a vested interest in the security of their data. It does us no good to assign blame when we don't know all the variables in play. There may be reasons we cannot fathom for what we see as a simple problem with a simple solution.

Copy the .xml file for Dennis and then stop Boinc on the 2nd pc, paste it into the new pc in the correct directory and then restart Boinc and voila it will be there. It still won't get any tasks since it's Linux but it will save you the trouble of trying to attach.

Use this url instead of the suggested one. I also had this problem until i substituted the url from the join page on this site.

https://denis.usj.es/denisathome/

I know it looks the same, but there must be a problem with the suggested one.

Cheers
