Hello!
I added Denis@home as a project in Boinc weeks ago and have not received any work to date.
But supposedly there are over 7000 units in progress.

Has there been no work for months or is it my fault?
What experiences have you had?

Many thanks in advance.

Yours sincerely, R.Lehmeier

There haven't been any new tasks generated after April 28th; those that hit the deadline got recycled but right now everything has been sent out.

I've only joined the project recently, but as far as I saw, work is being sent out in large batches that eventually overload the server's capacity, causing bottlenecks with uploading/reporting and also a buildup of WUs waiting for validation (you can still see a relatively large amount right now). I expect more tasks to be sent out next week and hopefully the different bottlenecks will also get resolved in the not too distant future.

That is interesting. I've been registered for about 6 weeks and haven't received a package yet.
That makes me wonder why.

I'm curious to see if it will work out in the next 4 weeks, because I have meanwhile deregistered and registered again.

I hope that it works out bad times otherwise I will cancel my registration for good.

I see you're running Linux on both your rigs. There have been some issues lately but they have been resolved. Did you check all the possible settings that could block work? Maybe post a screenshot of your event log when you try to get work.

Have you ticked the Run test applications box in preferences ?

Make sure you have all these ticked on:

Beta of DENIS-myocyte
New human ventricular cell model
Human ventricular cell models optimization
Beta of DENIS-fiber <-- this is what he is running and testing right now.

Next up the project as it has been said runs in spurts.
It is technically a beta dataset they are trying.
Its not production level yet.

They might be looking at the returned data and seeing what they need to change and then send out new work.

Your cache level (extra work) might be to small to get work outside your usual projects.
So when there is work again, bump your cache up a little bit and do an update. Set your other projects to no new work so they don't steal that space first.

Copy/paste your log messages after you try this if you don't get any work.

This is a trick I have been doing for years. Only other thing I have tried is setting the resource share a little higher than all my other projects. Sometimes that helps.

Before changing cache settings it is well worth checking that the project has work available - just now there's nothing.

Yeah, it's the reason I'm not asking questions. :-)
RAH is mostly keeping me busy with the taskings, and if I really wanted a deluge I'd open the valve for WCG completely!

I'm doing RAH,GPUgrid and Denis for medical and FAH (not BOINC) and then some math and LHC and Einstein plus Astroids.
I never run dry..I just do more of other stuff when some projects are down.

This project has never been about big runs. I've been in almost since the start, so I am used to it.
He once posted some of his research....that was so over my head! I suppose if I studied it deeper I would understand.

I am trying to do ClimatepRrediction, Denis, WorldCommunityGrid, Asteroids, Rosetta, and Einstein. I sometimes run dry as now my main (Linux) machine only has enough to keep 10 cores busy. No work for ClimatePredicion, Denis, Asteroids, Einstein. And Asteroids does no work on my Linux machine alhough it does on my Windows 11 machine.

CPDN has been out of work for months, WCG was down most of the last two years, though it is slowly recovering. Einstein has been out of work for a couple of days. And Denis is in its on-again off-again mode after having run quite well for several weeks.

WCG has been running and is part of the Pentathlon. E@H has work. A@H has the same work for all OSs/Devices. Not having work seems to be on you.

Einstein@home is a long running project... with SETI@home retired, it may now be the oldest project.
They ALWAYS have work for CPU and GPU. If you're not getting work, something may not be configured correctly in your client or the project settings.

Asteroids@home usually has work, CPU & GPU, but sometimes the work temporarily runs dry before they can restock.

DENIS@home is only doing beta work currently. They are testing out and then updating apps for a new model recently developed. The project isn't their primary focus. They have primary duties that can require their attention, although they do their best to keep working with the project.

World Community Grid is a crap shoot whether you get any work at any one time. They ALWAYS have issues and ALWAYS claim they don't need any help. You have to go digging for info on outages in the forums...when the forums aren't down too....

At this point in time, denis is a sporadic project. It is a small team that is studying a very specific kind of science that I can't even get my head around. There cycle is to run BETA tasks first, to understand how their ideas work in the BOINC code, once the bugs are worked out, they run a test phase on the data and refine their models to find what they are looking for. After that they have a 2-3 month data run and then go dormant again.

They just completed functional BETA testing a few weeks ago and are looking at that data. So hopefully before the summer break (this is a university project) they will put out a BETA data run or production run.

I wondered why I was not getting any new work.
Well I am going on vacation for 3 weeks so it doesn't matter to me right now.

There is work at WCG but with a marathon running for MCM it is thinly spread.
See also WUprop which gives some idea of work volumes available (not everyone runs WUprop).
