Dear volunteers, The IT department has notified us that tomorrow, starting at 3:00 p.m. (CEST), maintenance work will be carried out on the university network. It is possible that from that moment on there will be problems accessing DENIS. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I've a couple of pages of retries. Things aren't getting better here. No new tasks set. That time spent could have been used by other projects . Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Hmmm, no reply, so experiment. Allow new work. A load of units arrive, instantly forcing my system into panic because of the really short deadline. I'd set no new tasks and spent time suspending other projects work to clear my system of these damn units before the short deadline expired. No new set again. The current work units appearing have a three day deadline, which, whilst still short, is better than it was. I'll leave it running, but, monitored. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

The things done during this network maintenance are still interfering with proper operation of the Boinc system. Someone clearly decided things were "not sufficiently secure" without thinking to ask why things were there way they were and deciding they knew better. |
