Been a member for a whole minute and messed up already. Sorry. Two tasks failed to download. Will they go away by themselves or do I have to do something to them?

I've had a couple of failed downloads too, but not enough to worry about. Yet ;)

@tami When BOINC updates the project it clears any failed downloads etc, but you can select the project in the BOINC manager projects tab and click the 'update' button to make it do it immediately. Glad to see that you made it here ... Someone must have told you how to connect to the project someplace else ;)

I'd like to report 18 failed downloads (up from 14 a few minutes ago) in 138 total. About 1 in 8.

Me as DENIS Staff can't do anything related to server and network maintenance (now) tomorrow we will try to talk with IT Staff of the university and solve the problems. We will give to you as much information about that problem as we can.

confirming that I have the same download error problem. Now all my machines are out of work due to download errors.

check your files and directory on the boinc project server

may have to put a longer backoff on the client, too many request/connections at once...also your allocated amount of disk space/memory may be low, due to DB bottleneck, in order to allow the server time to create the files in download directory.
once the http errors start the server is over loaded trying to updated the DB
and created the next taskname_x in the run. x being 0, 1, 2, 3, etc..

I have 12 tasks that failed to download. 27 tasks validated and 6 tasks are pending. Thanks.

Error code, from Boinc FAQ service:

ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND -224

This is the same as an HTTP error 404: File not found or HTTP error 416 Requested Range not satisfiable.

We want to download the file which isnt there. For example Nate could not download 300_sim_2636.conf because it isnt there.

We are talking with university staff because download problems could be caused by email output. We are trying to setup the email service and that makes the server goes unstable at certain times. This first days we will try to solve ( and understand) all the problems and find their solution. We hope that in couple of days we can generate a continuous workload avoiding errors on your machines.
