We have had to change the size of one parameter to store it as double because with longest simulations we overflow the size. I think that could be related to the reading of the file. Because when it get rubbish from the checkpoint files ( is corrupted for example) the shows a it==XXX different from zero. But if the app can't read the file or it doesn't exists, it starts from zero. We will do some test using parameters of the SteadyState8000 that seems to be more faulty if we can reproduce the problem. But we have make tests in our windows computer with fresh windows 10 installed inside an it seems to work correctly. They overflow the capacity of certain variables in the code ( We have increase the length and the number of variables to modify in order to have better results) We are modifying the code to avoid it. Version v1.07 solves the first overflow which was at initialization. But this new one is during recovering from checkpoint. We will upgrade the application as fast as we can. Best regards, Joel.

Our work now is related to the process of job creation. We are regarding the best way to generate an enormous quantity of workunits in an organized way. And in the end, we are working to store certain infomation extra (markers) that we have add recently to the simulator and we have to manage and coordinate everything. This is why you as user are not seeing so much movement in the "surface" of the project, because we are working a lot in the backend before generating new work. Best regards, Joel.

I don't mean to sound petulant, it is just that I am. I do not mind delays. I do not mind slowdowns or work that is insufficient for the demands of contributors ( after all it is your project, not theirs/mine ). I am patient. What I mind is bad information. What I mind is not being kept abreast of the current status and problems, particularly when you have already made time-based statements related to new work. Pronouncements as to upcoming time-frames and expectations have been wildly optimistic more than once and that is disheartening. Joel, I know you and the other members of the project team are all busy people with many, many demands on your time. It's a small team with a lot of work to do. But I do feel slighted that someone can not take 15 minutes and give a quick summary of the current project status, goals, challenges, and roadblocks to your community of volunteers. [[here you, the reader, may insert your own earthy comments (my own are a bit too spicy) requesting the project to give it up and tell us wt. is going on]] Thank you, g Hello, We understand you, and we are doing the things the best we can. Those days have been really busy and we have been worried about other parts of the project ( and other projects, the end of the academic year...) and we have been pass less time here. We are creating a new way to launch a vast number of simulations. It have a big part of study in order to make it flexible. We hope that in a near date we could have it done and working. We are doing some research with that data and it cost some time for an small team like us. We want to develop an stable version during next two week. Meanwhile we are working on the background, we are developing a work generator that populate an entire model and upload the results to a Data Base. The MAC OS users could have a faster version because we use proprietary compiler from apple that could be optimize. The Windows version is compiled on a Windows XP virtual machine using Mingw gcc compiler. Linux version is compiled on old scientific linux virtual machine downloaded from official BOINC repository to permit to run in old machines. The code and compile options are the same to all platforms so the differences could be just on the different compiler used. Also beta version of the app stores a lot of information in log files, it could have impact on the speed of the tasks ( write to disk speed). Best regards, Joel.

As you said, main problems could be at checkpoint time, because is one of the hardest part to test at develop time. We look the crashes and tries to isolate and find the origin of them, we hope that most of them are related to the client situation ( an unpredicted reboot or similar situations). The simulator could be used to improve cardiac cells models and make them more realistic, this could help to a lot of cardiac diseases like for example arrhythmia (http://denis.usj.es/carro-rodriguez-laguna-pueyo-2011/). We launch beta WUs with a small amount of time, because we tries to get results as soon as possible. In the other versions of the app, we will give more time to users. The configuration of how credit is give to complete tasks is the default one, if a task isn't seems to be ended before deadline, new task is created and if the second one ends earlier, no credit is give to the slowest one.
