UNSC Marine Corps

Team info
Description Organization Headquarters Marine Corps Operating Forces The majority of the UNSC Marine Corps personnel fall under the UNSC Marine Corps Forces Command (MARFORCOM), commanded by the Assistant Commandant of Operations and Planning. Under the UNSC Marine Corps Forces Command, a Marine Corps Air-to-Ground Task Force (MAGTF), assigned to a planet or system, is commanded by a Lieutenant General. The MAGTF commander oversees a Marine Corps infantry and reconnaissance division, a Marine Aviation Wing, and a Marine Logistics Brigade. A MAGTF includes a Command Combat Element (CCE), Ground Combat Element (GCE), Aviation Combat Element (ACE), and Logistics Combat Element (LCE). Under a standard MAGTF, the Lieutenant General commands the Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), a Brigadier General commands a Marine Expeditionary Brigade, and a colonel commands a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Under each MEF, there is one MEB and three MEUs. The units are often attached to a UNSC Navy Fleet to support their expeditionary warfare mission. In conjunction with the Marine Corps Forces Command, there are five major commands subordinate to the Forces Command. Each Sector has its own Fleet Marine Force, Sector designation while the Sol Core has Fleet Marine Force, Sol Core where it oversees the Sol Core. Each FMF is considered the administrative arm of all operational Marine Corps activity within the designated FLEETCOM Sector Area of Operation. A Fleet Marine Force Headquarters can act as a Naval Command Headquarters during galactic-scale operations. The Fleet Marine Forces Commanders are Lieutenant Generals who report to both the designated FLEETCOM Sector Commander and Marine Corps Forces Command. The UNSC Marine Corps Forces Special Warfare Command (MARFORWARCOM) is the special warfare command for the UNSC Marine Corps. The command was created in 2182, following the integration of many nations into the UNSC. It holds the UNSC Marine Corps Orbital Drop Shock Troops. Commanded by a General, the MARFORWARCOM reports to the Commandant and Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps. It oversees all Shock Troop Corps, Shock Troop Divisions, and training of all ODSTs. In recent years, the MARFORCWARCOM created their own MAGTF organization including Marine Corps Special Warfare Expeditionary Brigades (SWEB) and Marine Corps Special Warfare Expeditionary Units (SWEU) assigned to a Shock Troop Corps. Supporting Establishments The Marine Corps Intelligence Force Command (MARINTFORCOM) is known to oversee all intelligence activities within the UNSC Marine Corps. The Marine Cyberspace Force (MARCYBFOR), Marine Counterintelligence Force (MARCOUNINTFOR), and Marine Cryptologic Support Force (MARCRYFOR). MARINTFORCOM provides Marine Intelligence Regiments (MARINTREM) to MAGTF units in the area with a focus on providing actionable intelligence to the deployed forces. MARINTFORCOM works closely with the UNSC Navy's Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in supporting NAVCOM's intelligence collecting efforts. The Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MARCORCOMDEVCOM), Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM), and Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) provide warfighting capability research, material, and personnel to support the Marine Corps mission. MARCORLOGCOM works directly with the UNSC Navy Logistics Command as a joint force to support deployed forces. The MARCORCOMDEVCOM provides the Marine Corps with successful research and development teams to help with enhancing doctrine and warfighting opportunities. Notably, they are charged with focusing on future concepts, advanced warfighting techniques, and creating solutions to cutting-edge problems. MARCORSYSCOM holds the Acquisition and Technology arm of the UNSC Marine Corps through various Marine Corps Warfighting Labotories, Program Executive Offices, and other enterprises to support the Marine Corps advancement. The Marine Corps Forces Security Command (MARCOSECCOM) is the primary Military Police, Embassy Security, Base Security, and Anti-Terrorism Force to provide security within the UNSC Marine Corps. Notably, the Marine Corps Embassy Security Force is charged with the protection of government installations across UNSC Controlled Space. Marine Reserves The UNSC Marine Corps Reserve (MARFORRES) is the reserve force of the Marine Corps. It is the primary expeditionary force and works alongside the UNSC Navy Reserves to protect colonies where forces are stationed. The United States Marine Corps is the precursor to the UNSC Marine Corps.[9] As the Interplanetary War began in the 2160s, the national governments of the Sol system strengthened and deployed their militaries for conflict. However, the distributed nature of their forces led to disorder among the ranks of these militaries.[10] In response, the United Nations in 2163 commissioned a force primarily composed of naval and marine assets; the United Nations Space Command, its Navy, and its Marine Corps.[1] The Marine Corps would be formed from the combination of the naval and spaceborne expeditionary units from various nations into a single force.[2] Triggered by Koslovic attacks at the Argyre Planitia shipbuilding plants on Mars, the United Nations began the Mars Campaign in December 2163. This campaign marked the first extraterrestrial deployment of the UNSC Marine Corps, as the UNSC launched a series of lightning strikes against Koslovic forces near the Argyre Planitia.[10] The decisive success of this campaign had a major impact on future military doctrine, resulting in UNSC Navy warships carrying large Marine contingents for ground assaults and boarding actions. Following the success of the UNSC Marine Corps at Mars, recruitment drives and propaganda tactics strongly bolstered UNSC forces and the Koslovics and Friedens were defeated on Earth in 2170.[11]
