(Message 1379)
Posted 23 Mar 2018 by Tex1954 Post: Likewise, my condolences... Also, of particular note, someone mentioned OSX and Winderz results are different? I hope someone knows what the significance of the difference is... In any case, FWIW, the tasks seem to average: 3.3-Hrs on the Linux 61XX (Currently AMD 6180) setup 3.85-Hrs on the Linux E3-1240V2 setup 2-Hrs on the Winderz 5930K setup 2.75-Hrs on Winderz 1090T setup Anyways, seems the code is longer sometimes, hard to say at this point. So far, only "Download" errors seem to be popping up... Good luck to all! 8-) |

Problems in the server
(Message 1259)
Posted 24 Jun 2017 by Tex1954 Post: But let us end that discussion here, because it leads to nowhere. Hopefully the servers are up soon, so we can push further :) I don't think so after you attacked virtually all of the BOINC community including the developers who always had Cobblestones in mind! We all crunch to help solve problems and discover things cooperatively. To that end, the more crunchers on a problem (or a project), the sooner things move along! So, you are obviously by your comments AGAINST promoting wider and more participation because of your personal RIGHTEOUS OPINIONS and backward logic. I'm pretty sure MILLIONS of crunchers would NOT agree with you. It is clear the only thing you care about is being noticed as a RIGHTEOUS CRUNCHER and above all others!! We got your number... LOL! Off the soapbox. LOL! |

Posted 23 Jun 2017 by Tex1954 Post: To Thomas as well as TheFiend... Ever notice that items seem to bring a better price at auctions rather than a simple flea market sale? More participation and contests promote more crunching!!! BOINC Points are a measure of contribution relative to other contributors. Having points and teams and competitions ONLY HELP the cause! I think it's rather narrow minded and unfair to say "the science matters, the BOINC credit does not!!!" when it does in fact promote MORE participation. "Real crunchers are not here to get credits, so just stop crying about something such unimportant as that." WOW and WOW! So I am not a real cruncher? Others are not real crunchers? Judge Jury Executioner you are? I have 13 setups running at the moment and I care about points and I am not a real cruncher? Good grief I hope nobody believes that statement!! Y'all suppose anybody who cares about points should just shut up and BOINC or not without any comments? Doesn't that viewpoint promote alienation and possibly cause folks to participate less? Points matter; maybe not as much as the science involved, but it's far from zero and is a valid complaint subject. 8-) |

Optimized app ?
(Message 695)
Posted 18 Nov 2015 by Tex1954 Post: The AVX2 optimization runs on my 5930K setup faster than any other version. The SSE41 runs faster on the other setups, but only slightly so, mater of 15 to 28 seconds depending on CPU. I have several Xeons and the SLOWEST ones are the dual X5680's with HT ON. But, with 24 threads, it isn't bad at all. However, the 12 thread 5930K runs the tasks nearly twice as fast as X5680's with the AVX2 version. (now I want a DUAL 2011v3 setup! LOL!) In any case, I would like to thank ALL the folks again, especially Sesef and Cruncher, for the tremendous help to the project! As an aside, I haven't really experienced any "finish file too long" errors that I know of. 8-) PS: Yes I am addicted to BOINC... :-P |

Posted 13 Aug 2015 by Tex1954 Post: What do you want Sesef and Peciak? Oh, not to put too fine a point on the offer, I will know you did well when DENIS developers acknowledge your code is valid and works and is or soon will be deployed for all to use. I would give it to them a bit earlier to ensure they have time to test it before deadline. 8-) |

Posted 10 Aug 2015 by Tex1954 Post: What do you want Sesef and Peciak? Well, straight answer. Thank you. Hope it doesn't take too long. When you make the source and compile options/platform information available to the DENIS developers, I will Paypal $100 USD to your TEAM or whomever did the work or to the charitable entity of your choice for the effort. It shouldn't take more than a month to complete seeing as how it's really almost done from the looks of it, so offer is good for a month... expires September 10, 2015 MY time. 8-) |

Posted 10 Aug 2015 by Tex1954 Post: No response from Peciak or Sesef? You know there are many talented programmers out there... it's a shame they don't get the recognition they deserve... sometimes it's because their priorities are wrong, sometimes it's their attitudes... Having said that, I participate is a LOT of BOINC medical projects because computers are a hobby for me; but more importantly because: 1) My mother and father died of cancer. 2) My sister and brother almost died of cancer. 3) My grandfather died of heart failure as did an uncle on my fathers side. 4) I am on many meds trying to stay alive a while longer and HOPE some part of BOINC research will help me and others at some point. I'm 61 years old on a half dozen meds trying to stay employed and alive... To think that someone good at programming won't help a medical project for some reason is beyond my comprehension. I can't think of a single reason why Peciak would spout dissembling answers in a forum then go silent and someone called Sesef would make no comments at all. There are many talented folks that DO help projects and developers on other projects. They are selfless and give of their talents freely... but it seems the Polish National Teams top programmers don't care. I have to wonder at the mind set of such folks... do they want to be paid for their efforts? Well, I would pay! I "DO" pay every day one of my setups is running! I would pay MORE for the help of other programmers in CASH to help find cures for humanities problems... Sigh... I don't understand it... I would myself be super happy to be smart enough to help a project succeed 10 times faster! It would swell my heart to be able to help that much! What do you want Sesef and Peciak? Can you converse with us and be honest and say why you won't help the project fully? 8-( |

Posted 8 Aug 2015 by Tex1954 Post: maybe because the app is still underdeveloped (too slow) Peciak, YOU and Sesef are running the optimized app now. Will you please make it available to the developers and everyone else? YOU made some available for another project, why not for DENIS? http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=572 The idea is to help the project after all... 8-) |
