But I'd like to think that my grandson & granddaughter will never have to endure it in their later years of life.

Since IBM handed WCG to Krembil there's been lots of issues to say the least. Back in the late 90s I used to crunch for SETI. My mother died after a very short battle with cancer. I'd lost my dad to a heart attack, mid 90s. My wife is currently fighting her battle with cancer. So, one evening I was thinking there must be a better use of my PC than SETI. A bit of googling and I discovered United Devices, real research into human illnesses & diseases. I signed up. UD became WCG around 2005 and I've been there ever since. I tend to prefer projects close to heart, so thats mainly cancer. When Covid hit the world I focussed on that for a year, and back to cancer projects. On various projects, I've got 92 years runtime, completing >472,000 work units. I'm pleased with that and hope that some of the vast amounts of data WCG processes will lead to a breakthrough.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Server is out of work (Message 2349) Posted 5 Apr 2024 by Tatts Post: It is possible being it is Easter break here in Europe that Jesus and his group are not working at the campus for two weeks. Schools are out and some people are taking a short vacation. This vacation ends the 12th. Thats a very good point. I hadn't thought of that, and I'm in the Uk with the kids all off school.
