I have 1083 tasks that are Validation Pending, they are not the last 1083 that were uploaded / completed and seem to be a random selection of uploaded tasks dating back to the 16th October. Worryingly the number is gradually rising, is this the normal amount waiting to validate?

Same here got one host with 1024 task waiting. CanĀ“t figure out why some of the task is waiting longer then others. But there is now the same amount task waiting for validations as before 3XP 1800 and 3600 was released.

Could be that server validating finished workunits and clear this up before it continue with workunit with pending task/in progress.

Some wu have been cleared out today so i hope it will manage to keep up until tomorrow.

The denis_validator_v3 have been offline as long as i can remember. Is it possible to get this running?

The old workunits with over a week old got (timed out) so this units could take longer before they getting valid.

Hi!

First of all, denis validator is running, the server status page don't show it correctly because it isn't run all the time, but is working ok.

The second part, not all the people uses optimized app, this is why some tasks that cost you less than hour could be like 6 hours in other hosts, if that host goes off, it could be more time. I have seen some WUs and this is usually the case, one host of the pair uses Sesef or Crunch3r optimization and the other no.

We hope that those people retrieve soon the result and you could get your credit.

Best regards, Joel.

Thanks for info.
Are you planning to release these optimized apps like default project app??

Hi,

We are learning a lot about this optimizations and we are working on how we could add those advantages to the new version of the app.

Sesef and Crunch3r made a great job modifying calculus in the model to make them fast, the problem is that in the future, the app will have a lot of different models and some of them would be closed (all those are related to work in progress and the authors don't want to share them yet).

This is why some part of the optimization would be impossible or just not for all the models.

Best regards, Joel.

GNU C 4.8.1 -mtune=generic -march=i686 -g -g -g -O2 -O2 -O2 -fbuilding
-libgcc -fno-stack-protector

WHAT a waste of possible performance.

I still don't understand why the tasks pending validation keeps climbing, 1708 now. Are these wasted as most are now days/weeks old?

Not wasted at all, server waiting for second task from another host before it starts validation.

Ok, thanks for clarifying, with seeing them gradually climb higher in number I was worried something was wrong. The amount is now reducing for the first time in over a week :)

I guess the validation pending tasks were increasing because of the "Oh Denis doo-be-do" challenge.

http://boincstats.com/it/stats/challenge/team/chat/730

It's a common practice downloading a great amount of workunits and holding them offline before the challenge starts (to get credited in-challenge). This practice is so called "Making bunker".
Obviously the challenge is started. ;)
