I sometimes get the above error message in the BOINC log when running DENIS, since I place the BOINC Data folder on a ramdisk that is only 1023 MB in size (the maximum of the DATARam free edition). However, DENIS itself uses very little disk space - less than 10 MB even with all cores running and several jobs in the buffer. So there is no problem if I run only DENIS, but when I try to run other projects (e.g., WCG, Rosetta, etc.) then I quickly run out of space. So I am wondering whether it would be possible for DENIS to reduce its required minimum disk space to something smaller, maybe 500 MB, which is what World Community Grid MCM and UGM require? |

We will see if we can decrease that number in order to fit better our project. Regards, Joel. |

Thanks. I don't want to impact future projects that might have larger files of course, but maybe it is possible. |

Interesting... I have a Ramdisk of 2GB for BOINC and my Firefox cache, but I never see BOINC complaining about memory, and it's only using about 0.5GB at the moment. I wonder... maybe free space is causing my task issue (http://denis.usj.es/denisathome/forum_thread.php?id=66) but maybe not. I'm on Ubuntu so I get Ramdisk for free. B-) |

I wonder... maybe free space is causing my task issue (http://denis.usj.es/denisathome/forum_thread.php?id=66) but maybe not. There should be a notice in the BOINC event log if it hits the limit, and then it won't download any more. However, the DENIS files themselves are quite small, so you would have to be right on the edge of exceeding the limit before you would be limited to a single download. I suppose it is possible, but your 1 task limit is probably due to something else. Do you have BOINCTasks? It is a lot easier to read the log if you do (as shown in the "Messages" tab). I think there is a version for Linux. |

I wonder... maybe free space is causing my task issue (http://denis.usj.es/denisathome/forum_thread.php?id=66) but maybe not. My problem was resolved when I borked something and had to re-install BOINC. Yes, I do have BoincTasks. It didn't say anything about disk space or task limit, just that it received 1 task. Now I'm able to get just over 100 tasks before I hit the limit of tasks in progress. |
