I just added DENIS@home to my BOINC projects and all tasks downloaded end immediately with "Computation error." This is on a Mac with OS 10.6.7. How to get this to process work units successfully? Thank you for any help you can provide. |

I just started crunching Denis today on my iMac, but I'm running the latest Ventura version 13.2.1. Are you able to update your OS and see if that helps? Mine is running fine, and work units crunch much faster than any other project I'm doing, or have done in the past. |

Hi! Indeed, it seems that it may be an OS version issue. In principle our program should compile for 10.5 or later, but I have to review the options on Mac because something is not going quite right. I put it on the top of my to-do list to see if I can review it next week. Best, Jesús. Jesús Carro Universidad San Jorge @InSilicoHeart |

Thank you, justakiwibird and Jesus Carro, for your replies. My computer is an iMac, version 7,1, that can't be upgraded to an OS later than 10.6.7. Since the DENIS@home application 0.01 has a minimum requirement for the Intel 64-bit Mac platform of OS 10.5 or later, I was hoping it would run DENIS@home. Thanks again for taking the time to help me get this old iMac to do something useful while it's mostly sitting idle. |

This is probably the reason the work units are failing immediately on downloading: I've determined that my computer is running in 32-bit mode even though the processor (Intel Core 2 Duo) supports 64-bit. As I understand it, some version 7,1 Macs will boot into 32-bit only because those computers have a 32-bit EFI. Apparently my computer is one of those; Ive tried to boot into 64-bit mode, but it stays in 32-bit. Unless you have other suggestions for getting this computer to run DENIS, I'll remove the project. Thanks again for your help. |

Hi! In this new relaunch of the project we had stopped compiling for 32 bits because there were already too many versions and we assumed that there were no more hosts (or only a few). We are automating the build process, if I see that it is easy, we will add it. Best, Jesús. Jesús Carro Universidad San Jorge @InSilicoHeart |

Thank you, Jesus Carro. I would like to use the old 32-bit iMac for DENIS projects. And, if a 32-bit application was available, perhaps many others with old computers would also crunch for DENIS@home. Also, would the 32-bit compilation run on a Raspberry Pi? With millions of those computers now in use, an application for that platform could potentially bring a lot of additional participants to the DENIS@home project. Thanks again for your continuing help. |

Yes, we want to add the app for 32bits in RaspberryPi. We will review this soon. Jesús Carro Universidad San Jorge @InSilicoHeart |
