It would be nice to have a message posted from the admin about the lack of work units and an ETA for when the problem will be sorted out.

I understand that problems occur and I'm not bashing anyone - just asking for better communication so that we can all work around any issues :o)

Hope you get it fixed soon as I'd like to see my rigs crunching again before I go to bed :o)

I would also like to see an increase in the amount of work units we are allowed to download. The last time this happened I switched off my computers and went to bed. . . only to hear that the problem was sorted out shortly after I retired for the night.

Just checked my computers and one of them is down to it's last 5 tasks. I then checked the server status and is seems that there is no more available work?
Can someone please let me know how long this will take to fix?

I don't like leaving my machines running all night if they are not going to get any work (it's a waste of electricity). I would rather switch them to a different project temporarily if this is going to take some time to sort out?
Can someone please let us know how long this issue will take to fix?
Many thanks!

My computer stayed like that all night and refused to download any work.

I re-installed windows this morning and now it's working. I don't think there was anything wrong with my Windows installation though!!

I re-installed Windows because I figured that the DENIS server would see it as a new computer. I pulled the graphics card out and am running on the Intel Graphics. I also re-named the computer during the windows installation.

Another team mate has had exactly the same problem but his computer started working again after around 6 hours. Mine was 8 hrs + and still not working.

Something is not right on the server side IMO - it needs looking at along with a database purge so we can see our completed tasks. Admins - please can you sort this out?

Worse here. Started a new thread because I've twice had the same computer sat full of tasks that are "Ready To Report" but no amount of spamming the update button would clear them. Project reset worked the first time but when I detached the project and re-added it, I'm not getting anything at all.

Still got a major problem with the number of completed tasks stored on the server. It needs limiting to the last 1,000 or less. I haven't been able to open a page to show completed tasks on 2 computers for weeks :(

I've now tried removing BOINC completely and reinstalling the latest version. I also renamed the computer in an attempt to be able to see the tasks. I removed all projects and I am trying to re-add the project. It lets me add the project where I put in my email address and password but then in the event log it gets as far as "13/10/2015 19:52:47 | DENIS@Home | Master file download succeeded" than just "
13/10/2015 19:52:52 | DENIS@Home | Sending scheduler request: Project initialization.
13/10/2015 19:52:52 | DENIS@Home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU"
"13/10/2015 19:57:59 | DENIS@Home | Scheduler request failed: Timeout was reached"

I have just booted up another computer on the same wireless connection in the same room and that's working just fine. The firewall and antivirus have always been disabled. I'm out of options and patience here!

Suggestions please!

Okay, this is a strange one. I've got 3 computers running and this is only happening on one.

All tasks are showing as Ready to Report in the BOINC manager but are not clearing. Completed tasks are showing as uploading when I click on the 'Transfers' tab but I am not getting any new work.

I initiate an 'Update' via the BOINC manager and it says 'Scheduler request in progress' but nothing happens. I check the event log and it's showing "Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site" then "Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down."

The servers can't be down because I can upload work. It happened earlier today and so I reset the project and immediately got new work downloading. Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

I am now out of work again and about to reset the project for a second time. I can't check the completed tasks for this computer because too many are stored on the site and the page just won't open. This is highly frustrating as I have no idea if I am getting credit for these tasks. If this can't be sorted I'll have to put the computer on another project and I really don't want to do that!

The problem did clear up but It's happening again.

All three of my computers had stopped and not uploaded work this morning.

I noticed yesterday that completed work was not uploading and I needed to manually spam the Update button in order to get it done.

I think it's at least partly due to the shorter work units. They get done so quickly that my computers need almost constant contact with the server.
11) Message boards : Number crunching : Can't see tasks listed - FATAL ERROR! (Message 512)

Hello there,
I have always been to log onto here and check my list of tasks. But now, every time I go to My Account and click on 'Tasks' I get the following error.

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 209715200 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 84 bytes) in /home/boincadm/projects/denisathome/html/inc/db_conn.inc on line 119"

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? I do remember seeing that the system had stored more than 100,000 tasks and maybe that's too many?

I got up this morning at 8am (UK time) and all 3 of my computers had run out of work but were unable to upload the completed tasks. Only just now are they starting to upload their work.

This is exactly the same as yesterday but I was able to manually start the upload process then.

Today this web page and the DENIS home page were slow and sometimes did not load at all and I could not post a message until now.

Are you doing server maintenance - or is there some other reason why this is happening?

I hope that you can get this problem sorted as I don't like having my computers sit idle when they should be crunching!

If it's going to be a regular occurrence, please increase the number of work units we can download so we have enough work to keep going :o)
