how this computer gets credits ?

run time 14 sec, 20 credits ? o_o

The owner of those tasks did post about it in the wasteland of the "questions and answers" forum, which nobody ever looks at (http://denis.usj.es/denisathome/forum_thread.php?id=34).

Don't know why BOINC still has the split forums, they are a stupid idea. I know it's possible to combine them, perhaps a server-side expert could provide a solution?

I don't seem to be having any failures, even with V1.02 - I wonder if it's because I always use the 'leave application in memory' option?

5) Message boards : Number crunching : max number of task in progress (Message 132)

Now that the project seems stable (well, it is for me anyway), I wonder if the number of tasks in progress limit could be raised. Perhaps to something like 20 WU per core? Would enable us (or at least me!) to build up a bit of a cache - Just enough work for 12 or 24 hours would be great.

I don't select an OS to use for BOINC, I just use what happens to be on any given machine (actually, that's not quite true, see later).

I use Win XP 32-bit on nearly every machine, because that's what's already on the machine. I get most of my PCs free or very cheaply, so they are always old and probably wouldn't even work with a newer OS. I do have other machines with other OSs (Win7, Win8 64-bit) but they are reserved for other jobs and don't have BOINC on them.

I do run a couple of linux boxes just to play with, and to run BOINC projects with no Windows applications. I wouldn't normally run linux out of choice (haters gonna hate!) but I do like how quick and easy it is to install and get up and running compared to any version of Windows.

Speed comparisons between Windows and linux ... I did test this ages ago and found in general that there was very little difference in performance, but a few projects were much faster, and a couple were massively slower. On average there was about a 2% speed difference, with Windows being better. I currently have a box that was Win XP and is now running Ubuntu and again, generally, there is no advantage to either OS from the projects I've tested so far.

Registered in past 24 hours 2161

care to guess how many of those 2161 new users are spam bots???????????

All of them. Including me ... HOT SELL BARGAIN VISIT WOW GOLD AUTO REPAIR NIKE WATCHES 4U!

But seriously (wut?), looks like there might be a few hundred genuine registrations in that 2K figure. Also, the bots aren't using the usual pattern in the user names and look like they are coming from multiple bot farms. Progress :/

I've had a couple of failed downloads too, but not enough to worry about. Yet ;)

@tami When BOINC updates the project it clears any failed downloads etc, but you can select the project in the BOINC manager projects tab and click the 'update' button to make it do it immediately. Glad to see that you made it here ... Someone must have told you how to connect to the project someplace else ;)
